I’ve recently been fortunate enough to get a copy of SingStar for my PS3. Review should be going up tomorrow at 3 on thebbps.com if you want an in depth look at what I thought, but that’s not why we’re here today.
Apparently in Europe this song is so big that they thought it had transatlantic legs, as it was included as downloadable content in the US SingStore. That’s right — Europeans love shitty dance music. I know, I’m as shocked as you are.
Come on DJ Bobo, tell us. Are vampires really alive?
The title gave fair warning, but just to be clear this post is going to ruin the end of Portal for those of you who are knee deep in The Orange Box right now. Mind you, you can finish Portal in under three hours, so if you haven’t done so yet and you have La Boite Orange, I suggest you stop reading here and fire up your PC/360 and get cracking.
Now that we’ve gotten the warnings out of the way it’s time to move on to the good stuff.
So on to the spoilers that should explain the clip above to the non-gamers out there. Portal is a brilliant new first person puzzle game which ends with the robotic voice that’s been guiding you through the game trying to kill you. Eventually you kill it, the credits roll, and the song begins.
There are a few in-jokes that you really need to play the game/be familiar with the developers to appreciate — like the reference to Black Mesa or the ongoing references to cake (throughout the game they assure you there will be cake at the end for you, then attempt to incinerate you by guiding you with signs leading to the supposed cake). Regardless of the few in-jokes, this song is hysterical and brilliant and fun and easily makes for the best end credits of any game ever.
