As many of you know, I write for a few blogs other than fjetsam. Dan, Kevin and myself also put our time in over at the gaming blog theBBPS. Tomorrow, we’ve decided, we’re going to sit down over Skype and see if we can’t put together a halfway decent podcast. Of course, I’m a bit of a nervous nelly when it comes to such things, so tonight I sat down and recorded a one man podcast in an effort to identify my weak spots so I know what to watch for when we’re recording for real tomorrow.
It’s a pretty painful journey - in the beginning things are really disjointed, but it gets a lot better by the end. It’s kind of like watching a train wreck in reverse. I’ve decided to share it up with you fine folks in the hopes that you can help me identify some areas that need improvement that I might have missed. So far I’ve noticed that I talk too fast, use “umm” and “yeah” too much, have a few other verbal crutches, and have the mic too close to my face on occasion. Anything else I’m missing, seriously, let me know.
I thought it might be fun for all of you to hear me umm and aww my way through 35 minutes of self-torture — but if you can make it through the first 15 or so awkward minutes, things really start to smooth out. All I can say is I’m sure as hell glad I did this before I sat down for a real podcast tomorrow.
Oh - and for all of you that listened to the podcast, as promised, my daughter dancing to The Ramones.
If you don’t feel like using the streaming link above, you can always download the MP3 of the show here.

Awww, I miss you!!
Good job - you caught most of your crutches, though you actually do a lot of “Ums” and “ya, so, clicky noise thing” in real life. I think it will be less pronounced though when you have someone to talk to. I think the best you could do is have a list of things to talk about, since you go off on tangents and lose the thread. But otherwise - awesome, and you had me in hysterics at one point, so really, good job!
